The Personnel and Training Business Unit provides advice and support services to the Council and its Officers on a wide range of employment related issues.
Through doing this our aim is to:
- Help deliver the Council Plan;
- Create a safe and healthy working environment for all staff;
- Promote employee well-being;
- Equip staff with the necessary skills to enable them to perform at their optimum level and continuously improve Council services for members of the wider community.
The Council currently employs approximately 590 staff offering a vast range of employment opportunities in various different areas of work.
As an employer we are committed to providing equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from all sections of the community irrespective of race, gender, age, personal lifestyle or disability, and pride ourselves in being an Equal Opportunities employer. This can be recognised through our achievement of the 'Positive About Disabled People
' symbol.
As an employer with a strong commitment to the development of all staff, we also pride ourselves in our achievement of 'Investors in People' status, providing excellent opportunities for personal development. Employees are encouraged to gain qualifications, and both career and personal development are an important part of our approach to training.
There are many benefits to working for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, including good working conditions, a contributory pension scheme, private health scheme, a relocation assistance scheme, flexible working hours, subsidised catering facilities, and many more.
We also provide our staff with a variety of schemes and programmes to assist employees in balancing both work and domestic commitments. These include flexible working practices, such as a flexitime scheme and work-share arrangements, homeworking and assistance with childcare arrangements.
