Entitled Delivering a Successful Future the plan continues to builds on commitments and achievements identified in the 2008/11 council plan document. Although the wording has been revisited – the councils vision for Basingstoke and Deane remains the same, driven by four key priority areas, prosperity, wellbeing, inclusion and partnerships.
Over the next 12 months the council aims to focus in the following areas:
- Preserving frontline services
- Providing help and advice for vulnerable people
- Moving forward plans for regenerating Basing View Business Park
- Providing a facelift for The Malls shopping centre to bring it into the 21st Century
- Creating more affordable homes despite a difficult housing market
- Increasing the boroughs recycling rate
- Promoting local initiatives to tackle the issue of climate change
