Flytipping
Is the term given to the illegal dumping of waste.
Unfortunately, many people seem to think nothing of dumping their waste in country lanes, waste ground and even alongside other people's houses. Flytipping involving the use of a vehicle may have serious consequences to the vehicle owner – the courts can order the seizure of the vehicle!
The Council spends considerable amounts of time and money removing flytipped rubbish and is seeking the help of the public to prevent this problem. Should you see flytipping taking place, please telephone the Customer Contact
Centre on (01256) 844844 giving the details of the incident and if possible, a vehicle registration number.
Many of you may also be unknowingly adding to this problem – when tradesmen call and offer to trim your hedge, or do a bit of tree surgery, or even relay your drive! Do you know what they do with the waste? We do! Always try to use local, reputable companies and then perhaps the problem will reduce.
