Make a difference, make a pledge

Small changes make a big difference and that’s exactly what the borough council would like you to think about as part of its new Make a Pledge initiative.

Whether it’s choosing to leave the car at home and walk, turning the TV off instead of leaving it on standby or washing your clothes at 30 degrees – your individual pledge will combine to make a big difference in the borough’s battle against climate change.

The Make a Pledge initiative aims to encourage people to think about the small changes they can make to their lives that will not only reduce carbon emissions in the borough but can also save you money.

The campaign follows the launch of the borough council’s Climate Change Strategy which sets a number of clear objectives from reducing CO2 emissions in the borough council’s own buildings to helping residents prepare and plan for the impacts of climate change. At the heart of the strategy is the reduction of carbon emissions across the borough and the Make a Pledge campaign aims to tackle this head on by encouraging people to sign up to a greener way of thinking.

People can make their pledge online or by placing a leaf on our very own pledge tree which will be taken to venues and events across the borough over the course of the year. (see below for dates and venues)
