Making the most of London 2012

These pages set out the range of activity being developed to ensure Basingstoke and Deane makes the most of opportunities arising from the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

The overall aims of the council and its partners are presented in the Olympic Strategy 'Going for Gold', which was adopted in 2008. Since then various initiatives have been progressed and many more are planned between now and 2013.

One of the key initiatives is Five Gold Rings, launched in February 2010, which aims to encourage local community projects throughout the borough. For full details of the scheme and project ideas please click here: Five Gold Rings

Further ideas can be found by downloading information on the national Active Celebration programme, which has been designed to provide a range of initiatives to help get more people more active using the London 2012 Games. Please click the link for more information: Active Celebration
