Hampshire Alliance for Rural Affordable Housing (HARAH)
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is an active member of the HARAH partnership with its countywide commitment to increasing the provision of affordable housing in rural Hampshire.
Through its work with rural towns and parishes, the partnership aims to build small groups of affordable homes for local people, enabling those with strong local connections to remain in, or return to, their communities.
HARAH is aiming to build 350 new affordable homes for local people between 2011 and 2018.
A designated and independent rural housing enabler is employed by the HARAH partnership and works closely with parishes by:
- identifying housing need
- identifying potential sites
- working with a partner housing association to take opportunities forward
- providing guidance and acting as a consistent point of contact for the parish council
- consultation with the local community.
