Housing Strategy 2004-2007

Our Housing Strategy aims to ensure that all residents of the Borough can continue to live in an exciting and vibrant community, and can access good quality, well-maintained and affordable housing within a safe and prosperous environment. As a council we want to create sustainable communities where social exclusion or discrimination to age, disability, religion, ethnic origin or sexual orientation, cannot exist.

We are required to produce an annual update to both the Housing Strategy 2004-2007 and the Homeless Strategy 2003-2008, which inform all interested parties of progress in implementing the strategies and any new developments. However, in 2006 it was decided to amalgamate the two, because many of the targets had already been met and because both the strategies will soon be replaced following the Homelessness Review and the Housing Market Assessment.

This update (below) also informs on the Private Sector Renewal Policy. Download a copy to find out what the council is doing to address housing issues in the borough.
