Council officers are interested in hearing from anyone prepared to help with a newly-formed ‘Friends of the Parks’ group.
This voluntary group is designed to ensure that local people truly feel that the parks belong to the wider Basingstoke community.
Members of this new group will be able to get involved in a variety of activities relating to both Eastrop Park and the War Memorial Park. There will be opportunities to get involved in conservation work, public consultations, and preparations for the ‘Green Flag’ awards.
The Green Flag Award scheme judges whether a park is clean, attractive, well-maintained and welcoming. It ensures that the community are involved in, not just events, but also activities and decisions about future improvements to the park.
