
The Local Sports Council is a voluntary sporting organisation with committee members representing the major sports in the area. The LSC works 'with and for the local sports community' alongside a variety of partners and primarily the borough council. Its two major events being the prestigious annual Sports Awards plus annual Festival of Sport with German twin town Euskirchen. A wide range of sporting issues are discussed at regular meetings.

Festivals of Sport
Basingstoke and Deane has strong sporting links with both its German and French partner towns. The Euskirchen Festival of Sport takes place every year and is organised by the Local Sports Council with the support of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
In June 2010 teams from Basingstoke visited Euskirchen. Approximately 170 athletes competed over the weekend. Local clubs involved were Basingstoke & Mid Hants Athletics Club, Summit Judo Club, Totally Tennis, Calleva Girls FC, Basingstoke Town Colts Girls FC, Kempshott Crusaders Girls FC, Overton & Basingstoke Taekwondo Club, Basingstoke Martial Arts Academy, Basingstoke Volleyball Club, St Mary's Junior School & Everest Community School, Basingstoke Junior Table Tennis Club and Basingstoke Town Colts Boys FC. In addition to the competitions, everyone also took part in a wide range of social activities, including watching World Cup football matches. An overall tie meant that as the visiting team, Basingstoke brought the trophy back.
