The Building Control Team is principally concerned with ensuring that the minimum standards are achieved to safeguard the health and safety of people in and around buildings. The team is also responsible for the control of demolition and dangerous structures.
Most forms of building work require approval under the Building Regulations. These detail the minimum level of standards acceptable, in order to ensure health and safety, conservation of fuel and power, and access and facilities for the disabled.
