LDF Core Strategy
Your Borough Council has started work on a framework to guide future change in our area upto 2026. Our Local Development Framework (LDF) will incorporate and replace the existing Local Plan but cover a much wider range of future issues.
Central to the framework will be the Core Strategy which will describe our long-term vision and objectives for the borough and set out broad policies for steering and shaping development in the future.
We've recently been undertaking consultation on our 'Issues and Options' document (28 Jan to 10 March), which was the first stage of the preparation of the Core Strategy, and have held several exhibitions and workshops across the Borough to allow members of the public and stakeholders to let us know their views on what sort of place the Borough should be in the period up to 2026. An outcomes report from this consultation will be available on this page shortly, and copies will be distributed to all attendees during April. This will provide a summary of the key messages raised during the consultation events. This will be supplemented by a more detailed report, which will include a summary of all of the written comments received, once these have been recorded.
A copy of the Issues and Options document itself is available to download below, in addition to a summary leaflet. Copies of the document are also available in all libraries in the Borough, posted to all Parish and Town Councils and all statutory consultees. In addition to the Core Strategy, a Sustainability Appraisal has also been prepared in order to test the appropriateness of the approaches outlined, in terms of their economic, environmental and social impacts. Please click here to access the Sustainability Appraisal.
