LDF Core Strategy

Your borough council has started work on a framework to guide future change in our area upto 2026.  Our Local Development Framework (LDF) will incorporate and replace the existing Local Plan but cover a much wider range of future issues.

The first key document to be prepared is the Core Strategy and we undertook an Issues and Options consultation on this in early 2008. A copy of the Issues and Options is available to download below.

In summer 2009 the borough council consulted on a draft Vision for the broough. This draft Vision will be discussed by the borough council's Cabinet on 23 March and then will be adopted by the Full Council at their meeting on 1 April 2010.

A Key Themes consultation document was published for consultation on 15 March for a period of six weeks, ending at 5pm on 26 April 2010.  This explains in more detail the main issues that need to be considered in preparing the Key Themes document over the Summer. Further information on the Key Themes can be found by clicking here, or on the banner below. In addition, a series of Background Papers have been published to support the Key Themes document, which can be viewed by clicking here, or using the link on the left hand side of this page.

It is proposed that a Pre-Submission version of the Core Strategy will be considered by Councillors in late Summer 2010, with publication proposed for October 2010.

In addition to the Core Strategy, a Sustainability Appraisal willalso be prepared in order to test the appropriateness of the approaches outlined, in terms of their economic, environmental and social impacts. Please click here to access the Sustainability Appraisal.
