The Basingstoke & Deane Local Development Framework
The Local Plan forms a part of the currently adopted Development Plan for the Borough. However, under the reforms to the planning system, introduced by the Government in 2004, the Borough Council is now preparing a Local Development Framework (LDF). This is a set or 'folder' of documents that collectively provide a long-term vision for the Borough and a strategy for achieving the vision. The documents in the Framework contain policies that will be used to guide and control development in ways that help achieve the vision and implement the strategy. Further details of the Local Development Framework can be found by clicking here.
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) provides a 'project plan' identifying which local development documents will be produced, in what order and when. The Local Development Scheme acts as the starting point for the community and stakeholders to find out about the authority's planning policies in respect to a particular place or issue, and the status of these policies. It also outlines the details of and timetable for the production of all documents that make up the Local Development Framework over a three-year period.
The Local Development Scheme for the Borough has been agreed by the Secretary of State during mid-August and the Borough Council will bring into effect in the near future.
