Cycling

Basingstoke has an extensive cycle network which is growing all the time. Building cycling into your everyday lives can be an excellent way of travelling to work, school or to the shops.

SignWhilst Basingstoke has a comprehensive network of routes across the urban area, there are also a number of promoted on and off road leisure routes in more rural areas. Many of these link into the urban network so that you don't need to travel by car to access the countryside. By visiting gps routes.co.uk you can obtain details of more routes in Hampshire and other counties.

In April 2006, a new section of the National Cycle Network (NCN) in the Borough was officially opened, extending south from Eastrop Park in Basingstoke town centre, to Alton and New Alresford. This joins up with the existing NCN route in the Borough which links Basingstoke with Reading.
