Popley West play and open space improvements

The consultations on the exciting plans to redevelop Popley Community Park and the open space at Tintern Close have now closed and we are now reviewing your comments.

Plans include removing the old tennis court and ball play area at Tintern Close, with a proposal for a new multi-use games area for the community park which will be funded by developers’ contributions.

Community needs in the redevelopment of the Popley play area were initially set out in the Popley East Community Plan and Marnel and Merton Community Group Action Plan.

As part of a programme of local improvements funded by developer contributions, we are planning to create a multi-use games area at Popley Community Park to provide better and more adaptable facilities.

This will mean that the ball and tennis courts on the current area of land known as Tintern Close open space will be closed and the area will be redeveloped, which will also include landscaping improvements.

We will be holding a second consultation on the design of the scheme later in 2016.

Also as part of the programme of local improvements funded by developer contributions, we are planning to create a new multi-use games area at Popley Community Park to provide the community with better and more adaptable facilities.

The new games area will provide increased opportunities for sport and leisure and we are keen to find out what type of sports and activities you think would best serve the community, which groups should the open space be designed for and what you would like included in the project.
