The Borough Council has drafted a Design Code for Basing View, a major office area in the centre of Basingstoke. This document is to support a major long-term regeneration initiative for Basing View, which was mainly developed in the 1970s and early 1980s, but which has the potential to become a highly desirable and sustainable area to match the best of 21st century office environments.
The Basing View Design Code sets out a series of requirements, which aim to guide development and redevelopment of plots within the area; it has been written to give scope for commercial flexibility, whilst ensuring that new development respects urban design principles, to create a more successful business environment.
The Borough Council is consulting on the draft Design Code between 1 October and 12 November 2008, and we are keen to receive any comments, which will be taken into account prior to formal adoption of the document. The Design Code can be viewed or downloaded below, but if you wish to receive a hard copy, please contact the Urban Design Team on (01256) 845492.
