Voluntary and community sector grants
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council provides grants, funding and a range of support services to various voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSOs) to improve the general wellbeing of local residents.
We believe that VCSOs have the skills and abilities to provide locally needed services in an effective and efficient manner, providing maximum value for local residents. Additional benefits of building social capital or engaging people with their own communities through volunteering simply reinforces the importance of this approach.
Borough council grants/funding schemes
The council operates many different grant schemes to support its local communities and help achieve its priorities. Each scheme has different aims and criteria and the following links provide further information:
Community and Voluntary Sector grant funding from April 2015
From April 2015 the way in which the council funds many of our community and voluntary sector organisations will change as we replace the current Core Revenue Grant funding arrangements.
These changes will not impact on current or future recipients of:
- Community Heritage and Environment Fund grants
- Leisure Grants and Have Your Say community grants
- Housing grants
- Community grants
The new approach gives the opportunity for community and voluntary sector organisations to make an application for grant funded programmes of work they are planning to deliver from 1 April 2015 onwards, for up to three years.
The application process is open now and closes on 12 December 2014.
The application form, the guidance for applicants and a budget template can be found here.
Completed application forms, budgets and any other documents should be emailed to email@example.com. They can be emailed to us at any time after 7 November but must be received by 5pm on 12 December 2014. Any application received after this time will not be considered. You will be sent an email acknowledgement of our receipt of your application within 48 hours of submitting it.
Evaluation will be ongoing - as applications are received - from 10 November 2014 until the first week in January 2015. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 27 February 2015.
The guidance for applicants also gives details of the council’s strategic grant funding. The application form for strategic grants is here.
Only a small number of organisations will fulfil the criteria for strategic grants. Those organisations who are likely to be eligible for this funding will have already been in conversation with council officers. However, if you believe your organisation should be considered for a strategic grant you should contact the council (details below) to have a conversation with us before completing an application form.
