Arts in the Community Fund
In 2017 Basingstoke and Deane adopted a new five-year cultural strategy and a 10 year vision for culture, championing an ambition to create a borough known positively for the arts and integrating it as part of Basingstoke’s identity and reputation. We are seeking proposals from organisations based in the borough that have relevant experience in managing, promoting and facilitating the delivery of arts and cultural programmes. Individuals based in the borough are also welcome to apply but are strongly advised to apply in a consortium or collective.
The project must enable residents from rural wards within the boundaries of Basingstoke and Deane to engage, access, experience and participate in high quality arts and cultural activities. Residents from non-rural priority regeneration wards can also benefit from the project. Projects should be innovative and have a strong artistic idea with clear aims and outputs, as well as measurable outcomes and impact. Applications from a range of arts disciplines are welcomed and should reflect the council’s wider objectives. Organisations can create and manage a project themselves, or use the amount to seed-fund a bigger project. If the intention is to use the money for leveraging additional funding, please specify a timescale for this, and the alternative plan should such funding be unsuccessful. Proposals will be assessed based on how they address and deliver against the aims and objectives of the Arts in the Community Fund.
Funding for the project begins in June 2019 and will run until March 2021 (dependent on adequate delivery and reporting in year one). As this is a two-year project, we accept that the first three months may be time spent in development and planning, leading to delivery of activities in the subsequent six months and into year two.
The grant is £20,000 per financial year. See below for the schedule of payments:
