You may have been asked to complete a household budget to help us agree a repayment arrangement for overpaid housing benefit or arrears of council tax or to determine a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) award. Alternatively, you may wish to use the tool for your own use to assist you with your household budgeting.

To ensure that your budgeting statement is allocated to the correct team for processing please select your reason from the list below. Click on the appropriate heading to display further information to help you reference your budget statement correctly.

Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) application

You are in receipt of housing benefit and you are submitting a DHP application and this is to support your application. (Please do not complete this form to accompany a DHP application if you are in receipt of Universal Credit as the DHP form for recipients of Universal Credit asks for this information as part of the application.)

The reference number you will need to use is your surname, the letters DHP and your housing benefit claim number, for example SMITH DHP 12345. You will need to enter the details as below:

Housing Benefit overpayment being deducted from your ongoing housing benefit payments

You have an overpayment of housing benefit which is being recovered by deductions from your current entitlement and this is causing hardship.

The reference number you will need to use is your surname, the letters HB and your claim number, for example SMITH HB 12345. You will need to enter the details as below:

Housing Benefit overpayment which has been invoiced to you

You have received an invoice for overpaid housing benefit and need to agree a repayment arrangement.

The reference number you will need to use is your surname, the letters INV and your invoice number, for example SMITH INV 71234567. You will need to enter the details as below:

Arrears of council tax

You have arrears of council tax and need to agree a repayment arrangement.

The reference number you will need to use is your surname, the letters CTX and your account number, for example SMITH CTX 61234567. You will need to enter the details as below:
