Support for groups and councils to take climate action
Groups and parish and town councils are well placed to help encourage communities to live more sustainably and cut their carbon footprint as they play their part in achieving the ambitious target for a net zero carbon borough by 2030.
To help groups and local councils to drive further climate action, the borough council has put in place additional support for these organisations based on the results of a survey that asked them what support they needed from the council to do so.
Free workshops to support planning climate action
To answer calls for greater support for making plans for climate action and accessing funding and other support, the council is working with Basingstoke Voluntary Action to organise free workshops for groups and parish and town councils.

Sign up for the climate change bulletin for groups and councils
A climate change bulletin is being launched to help keep groups and local councils up to date on how the borough council is tackling the climate emergency as well as the help and support available to them to encourage action among communities.
Complementing the community climate change toolkit, the bulletin will provide guidance to these organisations on becoming more sustainable including signposting to financial support and other resources they can use to promote action.
Groups and local councils can sign up to receive the bulletin once it has launched by emailing communications@basingstoke.gov.uk.
