Club Accreditation

Sport England Club Matters

Club Matters is Sport England’s one-stop shop for sports clubs and organisations. It provides free, convenient and practical resources to help organisations to develop, grow and become more sustainable and successful.

Accreditation/Clubmark

All sports clubs are encouraged to gain accreditation. Some National Governing Bodies of sport have their own accreditation schemes while others use the Clubmark kitemark.

Clubs can benefit from gaining accreditation by:

  • Increased membership
  • Club development
  • Development of coaches and volunteers
  • Increased club profile

Clubmark ensures that accredited clubs operate to consistent, accepted and minimum standards. It is awarded to acknowledge the fact that a club has complied with key requirements with regard to:

  • its playing/participation programme
  • duty of care and safeguarding and protecting children
  • knowing your club
  • club management
