Energy saving advice

The Energy Saving Trust is the UK's leading organisation set up to address the damaging effects of climate change. Through its network of "one-stop-shop" advice centres it provides free and impartial advice on energy saving in and around the home. Advice covers grants and funding, energy efficiency, renewable energy, transport, waste and water.

For a free home energy report that can reduce energy bills by around £250 per year, you can complete a questionnaire on the Energy Saving Trust website.

Hitting the cold spots

Hampshire County Council with its partners, are run the Hitting the Cold Spots campaign, funded by Hampshire County Council Adult Services and Public Health departments, which can help and advise you on ways to keep warm and healthy in winter. Utility companies

Your energy supplier may be offering discounts of up to 60% towards the cost of installing cavity wall insulation and loft insulation. For up to date information on which supplier is offering the best deal, please contact the Energy Saving Trust or contact your own energy provider and ask to speak to their energy efficiency team. Their contact phone number will be on your latest bill.

The Environment Centre

The Environment Centre (tEC) is your local registered charity specifically set up to support local residents in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex.  Staff are able to provide free impartial advice to help reduce your energy use in the home and can offer advice about local/national grants and discounts available for insulation, renewable technologies and boilers.

Energy Efficiency Loans

We have set aside a pot of money to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their properties – this will also reduce residents’ energy bills and contribute to reducing carbon emissions across the borough. Improvements could include: insulation, replacement windows or doors, new boilers, upgrading lighting and any others where energy savings can be assured.
