Household Support Grant Funding

Hampshire County Council have provided us with some of their Household Support Fund. This fund is to provide short-term help to households most in need. The fund helps with food, energy and water bills and other related essentials.

This fund is limited. We will prioritise the households most in need.

This scheme runs until 31 March 2024, or until all funds have been allocated.

VIVID are no longer accepting applications as all their funds have been spent. Please contact VIVID directly to find out how else they can help you.


You must:

  • be over the age of 16
  • live in the borough of Basingstoke and Deane
  • be without sufficient resources to meet the immediate short-term needs of yourself and/or your household including dependants

Tenants or Shared Owners of Sovereign and/or VIVID properties


If you are a tenant, speak to your Customer Account Officer to see if you are eligible for the fund or whether there is anything else that can be recommended for you.

If you are a tenant, you can no longer make an application as all funds have been spent.

What will not be awarded?

This fund cannot be used to provide mortgage support, though homeowners could still qualify for other elements of this fund such as food, energy, water, essentials linked to energy and water and wider essentials. Where a homeowner is having difficulty with their mortgage payments, they should contact their lender as soon as possible to discuss their circumstances. In addition, Basingstoke and Tadley Citizens Advice can offer advice.

The council cannot award funds to households who are tenants of Sovereign and VIVID as they have been allocated funds to support their tenants.

Please provide as much information as possible to help us assess your application. We will contact you regarding any additional information or evidence that is required to assess your claim. To be eligible you need to demonstrate the need for assistance.

If you are a VIVID tenant, unfortunately you cannot make an application as all funds have been spent.

Assessment process

Once we have received an application with all the supporting documents we need, we will assess the application. We will do this as quick as possible. We will base our decision on:

  • the information you provide
  • your reason for the application
  • other relevant information available at the time

When we have made a decision about your application we will write to you, this may be via email, with the outcome advising:

  • whether we have made an award
  • the intended use of the award
  • the amount of the award
  • the reason for the decision

Receiving a payment

If successful, we will make the payment to your bank account. You will need to provide us your bank account details. We may not always be able to pay the full amount of funding requested due to the limited funds available. You will receive payment within approximately 10 working days of the payment being sent.

Sovereign and VIVID will issue payments to their tenants by providing vouchers.
