Occupational health service

The Occupational Health Service for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is provided by the Robens Centre for Occupational Health, you can visit their website for further information.

The Occupational Health team operates Monday to Friday throughout the year and is available to all council employees. The Robens Centre is an independent and specialist occupational health provider which is owned by the University of Surrey.

Salary sacrifice schemes - cars, bicycles and childcare vouchers

Give up part of your gross salary in exchange for non-cash benefit which is a brand new lease car. This scheme lets you drive away a brand new, fully maintained and insured car for three years. The advantage is that you’ll sacrifice the salary before your income tax and National Insurance (NI) is deducted, making it much cheaper than a normal private lease agreement. To help reduce environmental pollution and promote healthier lifestyles we operate a tax-free cycle to work scheme. The cost of a brand new bicycle and any associated safety equipment will be exempt from both income tax and NI deductions. We operate this scheme through Connected Benefits ‘Bikes for Staff’. Childcare vouchers
Through this scheme, working parents can opt to exchange part of their salary for childcare vouchers.
Exempt from tax and NI contributions, childcare vouchers are used to pay for any form of registered or approved childcare, including nurseries, nannies and pre and after school clubs. Under the scheme, parents are able to save up to £1196 per year on their childcare, (subject to individual circumstances), by requesting up to £243 per month in vouchers.
