Duty planning service
|The duty planning service offers advice on small scale domestic (excluding new dwellings) and small scale business projects only.|
The online self-service planning appointments system is no longer available. To make an appointment to see a Planning Officer please call 01256 844844 select option 3 for Planning.
The length of appointments will be 15 minutes and they will be available Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 1pm (last appointment is at 1pm). Bookings can be made up to one week in advance, but with a minimum of one working day's notice.
When booking your appointment you will be asked to provide details of the proposed development and where it would be located. The more information you can provide when booking your appointment the more informed the officer’s advice will be. It would also help if you bring plans, sketches and photos (if available) to the appointment.
What does the duty planning service offer?
The planning officer will be able to give you verbal advice on your proposals and provide guidance on how to proceed. No written advice will be available through this process. If a written response is required, you will need to follow the written submission process.
If the details provided when booking the appointment fall outside of the scope of the duty planning service then your appointment will be cancelled and you will be advised to follow the written submission process.
Please note there will be no opportunity to review the detailed planning history of a site while discussing proposals with the duty officer. You can research the planning history online or at the Civic Offices.
Visitors seeking advice on more complex planning matters than those outlined above will need to follow the written submission process. If in doubt as to whether your enquiry falls within the duty planning service please phone us on 01256 844844.
