This is an exciting time for our leisure park after the industry has recovered from pandemic restrictions. There is lots of interest from different types of leisure operators who want to bring the latest activities and experiences to Basingstoke.
This fits the council’s aim to bring a variety of exciting attractions to our leisure park so that it is a contemporary 21st century venue for people of all ages and interests.
Among the types of new attractions that operators are keen to bring to the leisure park are padel tennis, active leisure, health and fitness facilities, indoor golf, cinemas and even waterparks. The master plan offers lots of opportunities to use undeveloped land to bring in new leisure operators and supporting facilities. This will bring new and interesting jobs to the leisure park.
Proposals for a new Aquadrome would see it re-located to a more prominent position at the leisure park on land currently used for car parking next to Buzz Bingo, subject to getting planning permission. This would free up the existing Aquadrome site for other leisure operators to develop new facilities to add to the existing offer.
As part of the work to look at new facilities, property and leisure experts will investigate whether it would be viable to build and run a multi-use sports and events arena on the leisure park.
