Finger on the button for council’s new online events licence system
News release 8532, published on 29 Aug 2019
Anybody planning to hold a public celebration, a mini festival or small-scale event can now get the go-ahead from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council more quickly and easier than before.
A simple online system has been launched for organisers of events involving less than 500 people to obtain a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) at https://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/tempevent
A TEN allows the sale or supply of alcohol; the provision of regulated entertainment and the sale of hot food and drink from 11pm to 5am. It costs £21 and is essential before the event can be held.
You can now also apply online for Minor Variations, Transfers and DPS Variations to the premises licence online at https://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/apply
Cabinet Member for Environment and Enforcement Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “Whether you are organising an event indoors or outside, we want everybody to stay safe and enjoy the occasion. So it’s important to obtain the correct licence from the council to help ensure that everything goes smoothly.
“This simple online system will make it much easier for event organisers to apply for a Temporary Event Notice rather than filling out an application form on paper – although this will still be available.
“We know that our digital services enhance residents’ access to council services and allow them to manage their accounts at the touch of a button at a time that suits them.”
