Help the Mayor hit the high notes at charity concert

News release 9613, published on 04 Feb 2020
Join the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane for an evening of choral favourites and local choirs at this year’s Spring Charity Concert on Saturday 7 March.
A wonderful programme of the Mayor Cllr Diane Taylor’s best-loved music is planned, including the Hallelujah Chorus, The Anvil Chorus, Fantasia on British Sea Songs, Wagner’s Mastersingers’ Overture, Rule Britannia, Old 100th and Jerusalem.
Performances will be given by massed local choirs, including the Basingstoke Festival of Choirs and Robert May’s School Choir, accompanied by the Heritage Light Orchestra and the Basingstoke Area Youth Orchestra.
Solo performances will be given by Bria Kelly singing an aria from Carmen by Bizet, and O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini, and Theresa Luna, who will perform World in Union.
All proceeds from the evening will go to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, supporting HeartSmart, Real Change not Loose Change and Besom in Basingstoke.
Mayor Cllr Taylor said: “Choral music is very uplifting and popular and I hope local people will join me to help raise the roof at The Anvil during my Spring Charity Concert.
“We have a programme filled with familiar tunes, such as Hallelujah and Jerusalem, and I hope the audience will sing along. It promises to be a great evening, so don’t forget to buy your tickets and give the Mayor’s Charity Appeal a real boost.”
Tickets are on sale now at £16 for adults and £12 for over 65s, under 16s and full time students (including a £2 booking fee), available from The Anvil Box Office, box.office@anvilarts.org.uk or by phoning 01256 844244.
