Recycling in the borough
Our waste and recycling collections are currently running as normal. To help protect our crews and stop the coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading we are asking customers to follow these guidelines from Public Health England about how to dispose of their waste if they suspect they may have the virus.
"Personal waste (such as used tissues) and disposable cleaning cloths should be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin. Other household waste can be disposed of as normal."
Residents can help keep themselves and the council’s bin crews safe by washing their hands before and after putting their bins out and collecting them in. They should also wipe bin handles where possible. The bin crews do wear gloves as part of their standard equipment but touch many bins every day, these actions will reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
