Rooksdown play and open space improvements
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has exciting plans to redevelop the open space within Rooksdown, known as Rooksdown Park. A masterplan for the park was developed with local residents in 2013 and these plans are already taking shape.

In 2015, a small section of footpath was constructed along with avenue-style tree planting and in 2016, a new children’s play area was created, thanks to section 106 developer contributions.
Within the park, a network of footpaths has been created and existing bins and benches have been relocated. Road crossing works have also been carried out to improve park access for those visiting from the nearby housing development.
The current phase of work involves the construction of a new skate park, which is currently being built, following planning consent which was granted at the end of 2017. The works should be complete by March 2018.
The skate park project has been possible thanks to a successful Local Infrastructure Fund (LIF) bid from the parish council, which secured funding for the delivery of the scheme.
