Rooksdown play and open space improvements
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has exciting plans to redevelop the open space within Rooksdown, known as Rooksdown Park. A masterplan for the park was developed with local residents in 2013 and these plans are well underway.

In 2015, a small section of footpath was constructed along with avenue-style tree planting and in 2016, a new children’s play area was created, thanks to section 106 developer contributions.
Within the park, a network of footpaths has been created and existing bins and benches have been relocated. Road crossing works have also been carried out to improve park access for those visiting from the nearby housing development.
The most recent phase of work involved the construction of a new skate park, which is now open for use.
The skate park project has been possible thanks to a successful Local Infrastructure Fund (LIF) bid from the parish council, which secured funding for the delivery of the scheme.
