Residential Parking Standards
In July 2008 the council adopted a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Residential Parking Standards. This followed a public consultation on the proposals and it came into effect for applications validated after 1 September 2008.
The SPD provides information on residential parking standards and design guidance. It applies to planning applications submitted on or after 1 September 2008. It replaces the residential element of the council’s Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on Parking Standards (January 2003). The preparation of the SPD was undertaken in accordance with regulations 17, 18 and 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004. Consultation and community involvement were undertaken in accordance with the minimum requirements of the Regulations. And with the proposed engagement procedures within the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).
Separate standards are available for non-residential developments.
Consultation on proposed new parking standards for residential and non-residential development will take place in early 2018.
