Popley Community Park play and recreational facilities
Improvements to Popley Community Park underway
The first phase of work to improve the play equipment and park features at Popley Community Park is underway.
We are set to make £400,000 worth of improvements to the park in Popley Way thanks to funding from developers’ contributions.
The community park was first developed around 10 years ago. The additional funding provides an exciting opportunity to upgrade the facilities again.
Last November people were asked to give their views on what new play equipment they’d like to see in the park and what features could be improved.
Responses saw a list of five priorities created for the space focusing on a junior and toddler play area, seating, perimeter fencing, outdoor gym and a teen play zone.
There was also support for nature trails, wild flowers and wildlife improvements and this will also be incorporated into the final plans.
Following a delay owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, contractors are now on site to begin the first phase of improvements to replace the perimeter fencing. This is expected to take around four weeks.
Designs and plans for the remaining priorities will be drawn up incorporating feedback from the consultation and it is hoped this work will begin in September 2020.
