Variety show set to storm the Anvil this autumn
News release 10247, published on 21 Sep 2022
More than three hundred performers will raise the roof of The Anvil as the popular Basingstoke Variety Show returns for its twenty-first year.
The magical evening of local entertainment will take place on Saturday 1 October with a range of acts – from harpists, pianist and singers to dancers and sketchers.
The show, the proceeds of which will help boost the Mayor’s charity appeal, will be hosted by west-end actress and social media influencer Hannah Lowther.
Local acts taking to the stage include the Alchemy Dance Company, Hampshire Harmony, Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society, BAOS Limelight, Petite School of Dancing, Theatre4Kids, Move it or Lose it and Kingsclere Performing Arts College.
And no variety show would be complete without a performance from local school choirs and this year the show welcomes children from St. Bedes Catholic Primary School, Oakley Church of England Junior School, Winklebury Junior School and Burnham Copse Primary School to the stage.
Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Paul Miller said: “The Basingstoke Variety show is one of the highlights of the year and I am really looking forward to enjoying a fantastic evening watching some of the borough’s many talented local performers.
“Please do join me at the show. Not only will you be treated to great entertainment for all ages but you’ll also be supporting my charity appeal raising funds for two important local good causes – The Pink Place incorporating The Blue Space and Tough Enough To Care.”
Tickets for the show, on Saturday 1 October at 7.30pm, are £19 for adults and £15 for over 65s and under 16s, including a souvenir programme and a £3.00 booking fee.
