Mayor praises community's work on neighbourhood plan

News release 10288, published on 28 Nov 2022
The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Paul Miller hosted a special reception to mark the council's adoption of the Ashford Hill with Headley Neighbourhood Plan.

Cllr Miller met representatives of Ashford Hill with Headley Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Plan steering committee at the event in the Mayor’s parlour on Tuesday 22 November to congratulate them on their dedication in engaging the community in shaping future development of their community together.

The Neighbourhood Plan was drawn up by local people and adopted by the council after 92.6% of those residents who voted were in favour of the Plan.

The plan now forms part of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s development plan for the parish and will be used when considering planning applications.

Cllr Miller said: “My congratulations to everyone in the parish of Ashford Hill with Headley who has been involved in the process to bring this Neighbourhood Plan to fruition.
“A great deal of hard work has been undertaken by the local community in order to get the plan made.

“Neighbourhood planning allows local people to have a real input into decisions about the future development of their communities.”

This is the 12th Neighbourhood Plan to be made in the borough.
