Former Mayor’s charity appeal totals revealed
The former Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane has announced that his charity appeal raised almost £10,000 for two local charities during his year in office.
Cllr Dan Putty, who was the borough’s Mayor during 2024/25, has thanked local people for donating a total of £9,792.68 to his Mayor’s Charity Appeal, to be shared between the North Hampshire Prostate Cancer Support Group and The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation's Basingstoke and Deane fund.
The funds were raised via direct donations as well as by the Mayoral charity events throughout the year, including the Basingstoke Variety Show and the Mayor's Spring Concert.
Cllr Putty said: “My sincere thanks go to everyone who donated to my charity appeal, whether that donation was big or small.
"The genorosity of local people, organisations and businesses is much appreciated by me and also by the charities themselves. These funds will make a real difference to two valued local charities, both of which are close to my heart. "
The North Hampshire Prostate Cancer Support Group supported Cllr Putty during his prostate cancer diagnosis. The group gives men and their families the opportunity to share their experiences of prostate cancer diagnosis, treatment and its side-effects in a safe and confidential environment.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation is an independent charitable foundation, of which Cllr Putty is a former trustee. The foundation is the largest grant maker to specialise in awarding grants across Hampshire.
