Push the limits as part of new extreme sports event at Basingstoke’s War Memorial Park

News release 10648, published on 21 Jul 2025

Teenagers, young people and families can look forward to a day of adrenaline and action as part of a free new event being held in one of the borough’s flagship parks later this month.

Limitless, a new event to promote sports and wellbeing, will arrive at Basingstoke’s War Memorial Park on Saturday 26 July between 11am and 5pm.

The Love Basingstoke Arena will have jaw-dropping stunts and high-flying tricks, including a BMX show, a showdown between parkour and pedal power along with a quad bike stunt show from Paul Hannam.

For those that want to have a go, there will be free running workshops from the local PFT Academy, who will welcome all skill levels. If seeing Boccia at the Paralympic Games grabbed your attention, the specialised disability sport will be ready for visitors to try. The Stoke Park will also be hosting a Skatepark Jam and running BMX competitions for different ages and there will be mini ramps available, with coaches on hand to help new and less experienced skaters to tackle the ramps.

Local sports clubs and groups will come together next to the Love Basingstoke Arena with demonstrations and information on how people can get involved in activities locally. This includes Basingstoke Gymnastics Club, Serco Leisure and the National Tennis Association, who will be holding sessions free of charge at the tennis centre.

There will be even more on offer for adrenaline seekers, including an 18ft climbing wall for those aged six years and up, a water-free surf simulator, axe throwing, slacklining and children’s archery.

To balance the thrill-seeking with something more chilled, young people can also try their hand at a graffiti workshop with artist Willow the Wispa, although they should dress for mess because spray paint can be permanent. Artist Fatima Pantoja will be leading an Urban Sketchers session, introducing a different way to capture the world in a sketch.

The council’s Nature Engagement Officer and Natural Basingstoke will be offering two therapeutic activities: leaf printing and nettle cordage which is a traditional craft of creating rope or string. BVA will also be there, for visitors to find out how they can help their communities with some active volunteering.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Sports, Leisure and Culture Cllr Kerry Morrow said: “We recognise there is a gap in activities on offer locally for teenagers and young adults and that is why we have created this fantastic new event to provide an opportunity for them to come together and try out some extreme sports and wellbeing activities.

“There is so much to choose from, whether they want to watch, have a go, improve their skills or compete with others. Along with all the demonstrations and activities, there will be music hosted by DJ Bruin plus refreshments, all at War Memorial Park.

“For any young person who has felt isolated or who wants to connect over shared interests away from social media, especially after growing up through the restrictions of COVID, Limitless is the perfect opportunity. I want to thank everyone who has worked with us to shape what is set to be an exciting and high-energy day out.”
