Listen Up for even more ear-resistable live music in Basingstoke
A treat for music fans is on the line up, as Listen Up returns for its third live event on Saturday 27 September, across five venues in Basingstoke’s the Top of the Town.
Launched in September 2024 by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Love Basingstoke, in partnership with local promoters RB Music and Jazz and Beyond Basingstoke, Listen Up is part of work to encourage more live music in the Top of the Town.
The venues hosting acts from 2pm on the Saturday, are The Tea Bar, Laarsen’s, The Royal Exchange, The White Hart and Gabardine Bar, with a mix of live music spanning genres such as rock, jazz, folk, electronic and acoustic.
New for this event, there will be street performances from Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival
Audiences don’t need tickets or to book in advance, as they can simply turn up and enjoy the music for free. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Cabinet Member for Sports, Leisure and Culture Cllr Kerry Morrow said: “Following great feedback from the last two events, we’re very pleased to bring back Listen Up for a third event in Basingstoke town centre.
“We’re supporting the area’s venues to host more live music to encourage residents and visitors to head to the Top of the Town. It certainly did that as it’s estimated that over 1,400 people attended the last event in March.
“This September, there’s a really strong line up so it’s shaping up to be a fantastic afternoon and evening of live music to be enjoyed.”
