Council’s website is a four star winner
The recently improved council website www.basingstoke.gov.uk has achieved a four star top rating in the annual Socitm Better Connected review - for the second year running.
It was subject to four ‘service task’ based surveys, as well as a survey testing the quality of site navigation, search and A-Z facilities. Four star sites have also passed a test for accessibility to people with disabilities.
The council was one of just 37 councils in Britain to receive the top rating from Better Connected after 414 UK council websites were tested.
Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services and the Environment Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “We are delighted that the council’s website has been recognised by such a prestigious organisation with a four star score for the past two years.
“It is great news that we have retained the rating as the standards required, especially in relation to accessibility, are increasing all the time. We re-launched the web pages this year with a number of user-friendly features and this has received great feedback. Well done to the council’s web team.
“In this digital age, with so much of our communication and services accessed online, the council is proud to provide such an easy-to-use and informative website for our customers.”
