Have your say on vision to ensure children and young people have a brighter future

News release 8323, published on 29 Oct 2018
Residents, groups and businesses across the borough are being encouraged to give their views on a draft vision for children, young people and families in Basingstoke and Deane to 2050.

Brighter Futures 2050, a vision for children, young people and their families in Basingstoke and Deane, has been developed by the Basingstoke Area Strategic Partnership (BASP).

BASP is a voluntary partnership which brings together different sectors to focus on local issues in a strategic and coordinated way.

The vision has been developed with people living in the borough and aims to create brighter futures for children, young people and their families.

It aims to ensure they are safe, happy and well and are getting great opportunities to learn, making the most of their talents and have positive aspirations for their future.

BASP is now asking children, young people, families, groups and businesses across the borough to give their feedback on the draft vision until Sunday 11 November.

Chair of the Basingstoke Area Strategic Partnership and Principal of Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) Anthony Bravo said: “We know from having conversations with children, young people and their families in the borough that most of them love living in Basingstoke and Deane.

“As a partnership we want to work with them and partnership organisations to ensure that everyone has the best chance to fulfil their potential.”

The borough council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Community Safety Cllr Simon Bound said: “I am pleased that the borough council has been able to play a significant role in the development of Brighter Futures 2050 vision to ensure children, young people and families across Basingstoke and Deane have the support they need to thrive.

“This vision will run alongside the wider Horizon 2050 project which sets out an ambitious and aspirational shared vision to ensure that residents have access to high quality homes, jobs and leisure and community facilities for decades to come.

“This collaborative approach will ensure all partners across the borough can work together to make sure children, young people and families have bright and successful futures.”
