Mayor’s charity concert has global appeal
Global tunes, song and dance is promised at The Anvil, on Saturday 2 March at 7.30pm.
Talented youth groups and schoolchildren from around the borough and further afield will take part.
Performances will include Japanese drumming by the Taiko Group; songs by Solnyshko Russian Children’s Choir; Boyle O’Dowda Academy Irish dancers and JG Dance. There will be a solo performance by Annie Wheeler and Robert May’s choir will feature.
Young musicians from the Basingstoke Area Youth Orchestra ensembles will also take part in the star-studded show. Howard Bentley will compère the evening.
Basingstoke and Deane Mayor Cllr Seán Keating said: “Everyone is invited to join me at my charity concert at The Anvil – it promises to be a fantastic evening with the best of Basingstoke’s talent taking part.
“There’s an exciting programme of international music and dance, so don’t forget to buy your tickets – and help give the Mayor’s Charity Appeal a real boost.”
The Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2018/19 is raising money for three local charities - Basingstoke Mencap, Naomi House & Jacksplace and Basingstoke NeighbourCare.
The concert is being supported by Anvil Arts, Basingstoke Voluntary Action and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
