News release 8492, published on 02 Jul 2019
Local residents are invited to join the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Diane Taylor at a community-spirited Civic Sunday service on Sunday 14 July.

The annual Civic Sunday service, held at St Michael’s Church in Church Square, Basingstoke, is traditionally one of the first high-profile engagements of a new Mayor.

Dr Andy Taylor, the Mayor's Chaplain, will take the service which will feature music from the Sounds of Hope choir and soloist Chris Greenhalgh. Phil Norris, one of the leaders of Basingstoke Community Churches, will give a short address.

The service starts at 6.30pm and there is no charge for entry. Everyone is welcome to join the Mayor for refreshments following the service.

Proceeds from the collection will go to the Mayor’s three chosen charities for this year – HeartSmart, Real Change Not Loose Change and Besom in Basingstoke.

Cllr Taylor said: “I am looking forward to welcoming local people of all ages at my Civic Sunday service to make it a real celebration of community in the borough.”
