Join the fun during Love Parks Week
Lots of activities will take place from Friday 12 July to Sunday 21 July 2019 offering people of all ages the chance to play, explore, exercise and relax.
Most of the programme is completely free of charge and includes bat walks, pond dipping, toddler walks, build a boat, parkrun, health walks, tennis taster sessions and cycle rides.
Love Parks Week is a Keep Britain Tidy initiative run by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in partnership with a number of organisations, community groups and volunteers.
Events will take place across the borough in parks and open spaces including War Memorial Park, Eastrop Park, Basing Wood, Black Dam ponds, Crabtree Plantation, Stratton Park and Down Grange meadow.
Join the Forestry Commission and the council for The Big Forest Find, a hands-on wildlife activity day at Basing Wood in Popley or enjoy a relaxing morning of stories about nature and wildlife at Basingstoke Discovery Centre. Talking Tots has arranged a very special one-off Shark in the Park class (a small charge applies).
The full programme can be viewed on the council website.
Cabinet Member for Planning, Infrastructure and Natural Environment Cllr Mark Ruffell said: “We are very proud of the parks and open spaces in our borough as they enhance our wellbeing and quality of life and that’s why we are so supportive of Love Parks Week.
“Our teams work very hard throughout the year to maintain and protect these spaces and this celebration is a wonderful way for everyone to enjoy them. I’d encourage people of all ages to take a look at the programme and come along to take part.”
