Financial support for fresh start
As part of its support for local organisations, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has awarded £15,000 to counselling service Relate North Hampshire.
The local branch of the independent charity is affiliated to the national Relate organisation which has expanded from traditional marriage guidance and now provides help to couples, families, young people and to businesses and their employees.
The grant funding will give the charity more financial stability and increase its capacity to help local residents.
Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Partnerships Cllr Simon Bound said: “Relate North Hampshire has a long track record of providing valuable counselling sessions to residents across the borough.
“This important funding will support the charity as it works to continue to provide a service for vulnerable borough residents or those who are experiencing significant life changes.”
Chair of Relate North Hampshire Beryl Huntingdon added: “Relate has worked with the local community for nearly 40 years and in that time it has helped thousands of people.
“We do not make a profit and many of the services we offer are subsidised so we are grateful for this funding which is essential for us to continue our work helping people and supporting them in their relationships.”
