Play days boost in Chineham
The Hanmore Road Play Area, near a local nursery and primary school, will include climbing frames and swings, roundabouts and see-saws, springy rides, interactive musical play panels and a toddler train.
Designed with an area for toddlers and another for older children, the new playground will also include a roundabout that takes wheelchairs on board and a You and Me swinging seat for very young children and their parents or carers.
Under a protected oak tree, there will be a grassy nature trail with logs and boulders where children can play and adults can sit in the shade.
Supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Chineham Parish Council, the new play facility is currently being built and is funded by local developers’ contributions.
The borough council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Infrastructure and Natural Environment Cllr Mark Ruffell said: “We are delighted that the new play area is opening soon in Hanmore Road. It meets a local need for play in the area and offers a wide variety of play equipment for all children aged under 10.
“Good quality play can make a real difference to communities, allowing our children to enjoy healthy and active exercise while having fun and forming new friendships.”
