Anniversary couples invited to celebrate with the Mayor

News release 9598, published on 09 Jan 2020
Couples celebrating their golden and diamond wedding anniversaries in the borough are being invited to come forward if they would like to attend a special afternoon tea party hosted by The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane.

Married couples whose golden or diamond anniversary falls between Thursday 9 May 2019 and Tuesday 19 May 2020 are urged to get in touch with the Mayor’s office to ensure they are guests at the celebratory event on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February.

The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Diane Taylor and her consort Dr Andy Taylor are looking forward to greeting guests to the free event and make sure they have a memorable celebration.

Delicate sandwiches, cakes and drinks will be served at Basingstoke College of Technology at 3pm on both days.

Cllr Taylor is asking all eligible couples to get in touch by Friday 31 January to ensure they receive an invitation.

She said: "Golden and diamond anniversaries are very special milestones and it is an honour and a privilege to celebrate with couples from around the borough.

“If you, or anyone you know, have their golden or diamond anniversary between 9 May 2019 and 19 May 2020, then please let us know so we can make sure they don’t miss out on this special event.”

To apply for an invitation, please contact the Mayoral Events Coordinator Zoe McLaren on 01256 845591 or email
