Don't miss out on family fun this half-term

News release 9634, published on 14 Feb 2020
A giant tree puppet show and plenty of other activities will be on offer at two free pop-up arts days this half term.
Under-11s and their families are invited to Bishops Green Village Hall on Tuesday 18 February, from 9.30am to 4pm; and in Penwood, next to Woodland Stores, on Wednesday 19 February from 10am to 3pm, for the fun sessions.
On both days, there will be a fantastic puppet show telling the story of the giant tree Arbor who has been pushed from his home and has to fight to preserve his future.
There will also be environment themed arts and craft workshops where young people can design their own colourful window displays – these will be used for the Window Wanderland weekend in both Penwood and Bishops Green on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February.
Participants will be invited to display the children’s work in their windows to transform the streets into magical outdoor galleries after dark.
The activities have been supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Partnerships Cllr Simon Bound said: “Please come along and join in the fun activities this half term which promote the arts in the heart of some of our rural communities.
“The giant tree puppet show is well worth watching and children will have the chance to get crafty creating a wonderful window design to put on display for the Weekend Wanderland.”
