Opening doors to new homes at council event
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will host the Help to Buy event at the Civic Offices on Wednesday 25 March from 3pm to 8pm.
People can drop in to get advice about various schemes including the Government’s Help to Buy and Shared Ownership. There will also be representatives from housing associations, independent financial advisors and building societies on hand to answer questions.
This is the seventh housing event hosted in the Civic Offices over the past four years and supports the council’s drive to provide opportunities for people across the borough to buy their own home.
This drive includes a new council loan scheme - Basingstoke and Deane Own Home Loan - to help people under 35 on the council’s housing register to buy new or existing homes with loans of up of £30,000.
Cabinet Member for Homes and Families Cllr Tristan Robinson said: “Buying your own home is an aspiration for many people but the market can seem just that bit too far out of reach. As a council we want to give as much support as we can to help our residents to achieve this goal.
“We’ve held a number of Help to Buy information events in the past which have been very well attended. This is a great opportunity to come and get free financial advice, understand what support there is and the types of homes available.”
