Have your say on the Old Basing Conservation Area
In place since its designation by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in 1973, the Old Basing Conservation Area exists to protect the special architectural and historic interest of the village.
The conservation area appraisal describes this special architectural and historic interest. The borough council is now reviewing and updating this document and is asking for views until Wednesday 28 October.
Residents can review and comment on the draft appraisal of the conservation area and a plan for its management at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/old-basing-review
In addition, a virtual drop-in session will be held via Zoom on Wednesday 23 September from 10am to 1pm.
Put in place to allow residents to give their views while following government guidance around COVID-19, the session is open to those who register by calling Old Basing Parish Council on 01256 462847 or complete a webform at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/old-basing-review

Cabinet Member for Planning, Infrastructure and the Natural Environment Cllr Mark Ruffell said: "It is important that the interests giving Old Basing its very special character are properly identified and preserved for the future.
"Despite the pandemic, it is vital residents are still able to give their views and so I am pleased that the appropriate measures have been put in place so information about the draft proposals can be accessed safely, whether that's online or in person."
Comments received during the consultation period will be used to inform the conservation area appraisal adopted in the autumn.
