Go green with solar energy
As part of its climate emergency response, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and other local authorities have joined forces to help residents make the switch to clean energy as cost-effective and easy as possible.
Solar Together Hampshire is a group-buying scheme to encourage Hampshire households to install high-quality solar panels at a competitive price.
Registration is free, with no obligation, at www.solartogether.co.uk/basingstoke-and-deane before Tuesday 23 March. Residents will be kept informed at every stage of the process.
Once installed, the solar panels provide an ongoing, free, zero carbon source of electricity to power homes and heat water. Residents can also register to have battery storage added to existing solar panels to maximise the benefits of their system.
The scheme is being co-ordinated by independent experts iChoosr Ltd. It has already run similar schemes across Britain, delivering over 3,000 installations and 57,000 tonnes of avoided lifetime carbon emissions.
Cabinet Member for Environment and Enforcement Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “The innovative Solar Together Hampshire scheme is an opportunity for residents to invest in high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery storage at a competitive cost.
“Not only will the trusted scheme reduce householders’ energy bills, it also lowers the carbon footprint at the same time, which takes us a step closer to achieving our ambitious Climate Emergency target of a carbon neutral borough by 2030.
“I hope many borough households will register their interest and take up this positive move to cleaner greener energy.”
