News release 9971, published on 05 Jul 2021
Whether it’s taking tea with Lady Mary or enjoying adventures with superheroes, Basingstoke’s Pictures in the Park will provide movie magic this summer.
From Downton Abbey for historical drama buffs to The Incredibles and Frozen 2 for younger film fans, the popular outdoor big screen event is back with a fantastic line-up of 10 film blockbusters to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of The Walled Garden at Down Grange from Thursday 8 July to Sunday 11 July.
There’s something for all, with a showing of Downtown Abbey on Friday 9 July at 1pm, also Ghostbusters, The Incredibles, Wonder Woman 1984, Frozen 2, Bridesmaids, Madagascar, Black Panther and Back To The Future, as well as a musical extravaganza with The Greatest Showman sing-along!
Tickets are on sale now, priced between £5 and £15 (plus booking fee) and selling fast so early booking is advised. There are afternoon screenings as well as evening performances so that people of all ages can enjoy the entertainment, part of Basingstoke Festival 2021.
After last year’s cancellation of the event, audience numbers will be limited and safety measures will be in place to ensure that the event is COVID-secure.
Cinema-goers are invited to bring their own deckchairs and a picnic or buy hot drinks and snacks on site. Ticket holders should check the Pictures in the Park website for any updates and wrap up warm for evening screenings.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Communities, Planning and Infrastructure Cllr Simon Bound said: “We have a fantastic programme of film favourites lined up, so we are looking forward to seeing friends and families getting together to enjoy this outdoor cinema experience.
“With great movie classics like Downton Abbey, The Incredibles and Ghostbusters being screened, this event is proving as popular as ever and we advise people to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
